I got these and some other fidgets to distract myself from hair twirling/pulling when my hands are idle. These did seem the most promising because I like some kind of interesting sensory input, especially on my hands.
Anyway, I’m only bothering to write a review because I’m shocked at how successful they’ve been(other toys not so much) - I haven’t pulled a single hair in the week since they arrived, and I’m having to put less and less attention into redirecting the urge or noticing what my hands are up to.
This is a total turnaround for me as I’ve been doing the hair twirling for more than ten years and pulling for at least a year (I started these behaviours when I quit biting my nails). Potentially not as effective for the type of hair pulling that some people do in front of the mirror, but very good for the habitual, almost automatic type (if you like the sensation of the ring, that is).
Also, it helps that they are discrete for the office and during meetings, just try not to fling it off or you’ll have to crawl around trying to find it. I did just buy a load more of them so I can keep spares everywhere.
Rose gold is the best colour IMO because the surface texture feels nicest, but it does smell the most metallic which I kind of hate. Small price to pay though. Also worth noting that you can’t leave it stationary on your finger or it will cut off the circulation and just get in the way, so you do have to remember to take it with you.
